Ministry Accepts My Notice of Intent

As some of you know, I recently attempted to deliver a Statement of Claim to the Ontario Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing (MMAH). However, when they didn’t respond to it after 20 days, I realized I had done something wrong. I assumed it was that I should’ve served it in-person, but when I asked about this in Reddit, I was told that I actually should have delivered a Notice of Intent first:

So I emailed the Civil Crown Law Office again with this letter:

On February 25, 2025, I received a letter from the Ministry of the Attorney General (MAG):

And here are my responses:

First Case Conference Date Set

Newmarket Courthouse
Newmarket Courthouse

As some of you also know, the Honourable Justice Fraser has been assigned as the case management judge for the defamation case. Our first case conference meeting is taking place on March 7, 2025, at 9AM via Zoom. On February 24, 2025, Justice Fraser’s assistant emailed us (myself and Barrie Housing’s lawyer, Riley Brooks) asking us to provide a proposed draft timetable (either on consent or if we cannot agree, then our own proposed timetables) and to identify any other issues that need to be addressed at the case conference, and to do this at least two days before the March 7th Zoom Case Conference.

So yesterday, February 26, 2025, I emailed Justice Fraser’s assistant:

Here are copies of the files I sent:

And then Justice Fraser’s assistant forwarded my email to Justice Fraser:

Even though I don’t feel confident in my ability to navigate the judicial system, I felt an overwhelming sense of relief when I heard back from the Ministry of the Attorney General. It was a huge relief to know that they’re finally going to be looking into what’s been happening to us.
